Testimonials

” …I thought, nearing the sundown of my time, that life had educated me to a degree of cynicism which would allow me to detect and counter any snow job aimed my way. But then I had to deal with a Government Department; a room full of egos and each ego with an agenda of its own. Everything was good those egos implied. If it had not been for CAWS and the dogged nature of my CAWS representative’s questioning of that Department I would not have learned that Everything was not good. Thank you CAWS.”

Rewards of being an Advocate …

“my friend of 40 plus years, lives in a group home in the Hills area Sydney. He has Downs Syndrome, is legally blind  and also suffers from Aspiration pneumonia plus other health problems. Over the past two years he had  been admitted to hospital numerous times; I was not always informed of his condition or his rights.  I was lucky enough to be given the information about CAWS. I had no idea such a service was available. for the past two years the Advocates  at CAWS have worked   hard on our behalf, pointed me in the right direction and advised what services are available.  These wonderful people have saved my sanity and I am sure my friends life. I am like a lot of people who are ignorant of what are the rights of the people living in care, Thanks to CAWS I’m learning and trying to practice with their help to do the best for my friend. We need CAWS to keep working on behalf of the disabled and their families, if for no other reason they give peace of mind, knowing I can always call on them for support.”
